Sprint, Clearwire team up for Wireless Last Mile

In content delivery networks, we always speak of the last mile and now Sprint and Clearwire are teaming to make sure that its a wireless last mile. While I have always been skeptical that wireless technology can provide the speed necessary to give us the bandwidth we need, this newly formed company with Sprint as a majority shareholder hopes to give mobile customers the network they need by relying on WiMax versus the latest round of network run by the cell phone companies. AT&T and Verizon share my skepticism for WiMax but with companies like Intel Corp., Google Inc., Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc. and Bright House Networks throwing their money in the pot, we might just have something here. What a beautiful wireless world it would be!
