Innovative Server System Partners with Software-Based CDN Management Suite to Offer Integrated Content Distribution Solution

AMSTERDAM– Sept. 10, 2009 – Edgeware AB, the provider of innovative server systems, and Jet Stream BV, the only commercially available software-based CDN management suite,  announced today the integration of Edgeware’s Web TV WTV servers with the VideoExchange CDN Management Suite to create a complete CDN-in-a-Box for content and network owners.

Version 10.2 of VDO Exchange, which will be available 14th September 2009, will support the CDN-in-a-Box capabilities.

“Telecom operators are not just looking for an advanced and effective CDN management solution; they also need the most efficient solution,” said Stef van der Ziel, CEO of Jet Stream BV. “As carriers, telcos and MSOs look to monetize content with Over The Top (OTT) delivery, this solution provides operators with the most cost effective, scalable and simple to deploy CDN solution available.”

Edgeware provides the most flexible platform for distribution of premium content, delivering 32,000 concurrent streams with up to 6 TBytes of built-in storage. The tiny 1RU form factor server has the highest performance and integrated functionality for its size making it ideal for strategic placement within the network. This combined with a 9.5 year MTBF and 85 Watts power consumption provides operators with dramatic cost savings and quality improvement.

”We have seen a high demand from operators wanting to deploy a complete CDN solution based on our servers,” said Jon Haley, vice president of business development for Edgeware. “VideoExchange’s full suite of flexible monetization options enables the CDN operator to create tailored business models for different types of content owners and video service operators who can then upload and manage assets via a comprehensive self-service web interface.”

Video Exchange runs independently from the network layer, enabling very fast deployment without extensive additional costs or complexity. Management or streaming server resources can be added and re-allocated dynamically with no down time, allowing rapid expansion or provisioning for temporary real-time events.
