U2 Concert Streams to 10M on YouTube

YouTube Inc. set a personal record on Sunday by streaming U2′s "360" concert at the Rose Bowl to 10 million viewers live across the globe.

The two-and-a-half-hour concert is the most successful live event in YouTube’s five-year history. Not to mention, video of the concert has racked up another million views in the past three days on YouTube.

"This was a big win for the YouTube community," Chris Maxcy, YouTube’s head of music partnerships, told Variety.

The concert’s 10 million streams on YouTube do fall short of the 13.9 million that Obama’s inauguration attracted on CNN. However, as the Silicon Alley Insider points out, neither Bono nor Obama can possibly compete with the power of adorable puppies. Ustream’s infamous Puppy Cam had already racked up 15 million streams by last December.
