Skytide Announces Support for Adaptive Bitrate Protocols

CEO Michael O’Donnell to Speak at IP&TV World Forum

IP&TV WORLD FORUM, LONDON – 03/24/11 – Skytide, the leader in IP Video Management Analytics, today announced version 2.2 of its Insight for Content Delivery Networks reporting and analytics application, updated to address the performance measurement needs of telecom and cable service providers building their own CDN and IPTV services.

Foremost among the new features in Skytide Insight for CDNs are:

  • Support for Adaptive Bitrate Protocols: Skytide can now analyze the high volume, high velocity data generated by adaptive bitrate streaming and quickly transform it into 167 different reports, enabling CDNs (and their customers and partners) to isolate and correct quality of service issues, precisely provision capacity and ensure accurate billing.

As an example, users can now view actual content assets and sessions rather than having to piece together thousands of Smooth Streaming or HTTP Streaming fragments.

  • Duration-Based Metrics: Skytide users can now analyze a full set of media audience characteristics, including reach, frequency and viewer engagement.
  • Enhanced Interface Customization: Version 2.2 makes it easier to customize and personalize Skytide’s user interface.
  • Scheduled report delivery by email

In addition, Skytide also announced that its President & CEO, Michael O’Donnell, will speak on the shifting CDN ecosystem as part of an IP&TV World Forum panel discussion on Thursday, March 24th.

“I’m delighted to participate in this important industry conference and to announce version 2.2 of Skytide Insight for Content Delivery Networks,” said Mr. O’Donnell. “Soaring online video traffic is placing enormous burdens on telecom service providers, many of whom are launching their own CDN and IPTV initiatives in response.  Version 2.2 will enable telcos to manage these new services with even greater precision and, in turn, to further reduce costs and grow new revenue streams.”
